Alpha Arbutin and Hyperpigmentation & Radiance

Alpha Arbutin is a widely used in skincare because it is known to inhibit Tyrosinase, the enzyme which is involved in the production of melanin in skin. Excess melanin can cause skin to become darker than the surrounding skin which is known as hyperpigmentation. This can be caused by sun exposure, age spots, melasma and even freckles. By inhibiting Tyrosinase, Alpha Arbutin works to assist in achieving more even toned skin by directly targeting hyperpigmentation. Alpha Arbutin can help fade dark marks, blemishes and other kinds of hyperpigmentation while helping prevent new ones from forming.

Alpha Arbutin is also known for it's anti-oxidant benefits which, "make it useful in protecting the skin against free radicals and environmental damage."
