How to get Dewy Skin without Makeup
Tip #1 - Cleanse
Oh my word! This is one of the most essential ways to achieve that dewy skin, that healthy glow, that va va voom!
"This is an important step in maintaining or achieving healthy skin,” explains Annie Gonzalez MD, a board certified dermatologist at Riverchase Dermatology in Miami, Florida
Cleansing is an essential step in getting the desired moisture in your skin. Keeping away from harsh chemicals and washes that strip your skin of their natural balance and disturb your skin's pH balance. Ideally, a hydrating cleanser with actives that are known to restore hydration. Our Feel (Good) Skin Soft Cleanser is a gentle cleansing gel that is gentle on your skin and helps maintain optimal hydration. With Glycolic Acid, it not only helps with hydration but it also helps exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. This is an essential measure in reducing the appearance of dry looking skin.
Tip #2 - Exfoliate
Listen, if Cleansing is a tip, Exfoliating is the Queen of all skincare tips. Period. And it's not just your face that sometimes needs a scrub.
Exfoliating can be a doubled edged sword- too much and you're dry and damaged, too little and you're ashy and peeling. But don't go ham! Gentle is the key word here.
We recommend exfoliating once a week using a gentle exfoliant. For the face, focus on oily areas such as the nose and forehead. And those lips, sometimes they also need a gentle scrub!
"Getting rid of dead skin cells is key, as it helps to leave the skin looking radiant and refreshed," says Dr. Marisa Garshick, a board-certified dermatologist based out of MCDS dermatology in New York City.
Dead skin stops light refraction on the skin which stops that glow we're all hunting for, so exfoliating is essential. It is also an excellent way to prime your skin so products that are applied after exfoliation can be absorbed into the skin. You can use a chemical exfoliants such as Glycolic Acid or Salicylic Acid. But you can also make use of a physical exfoliant such as pumice. Our Therabody Medicated Scrub Mask is an excellent physical exfoliator that is mild enough to use weekly.
Tip #3 - Use Vitamin C
Vitamin C has long been associated with glowing skin. We know this powerful vitamin not only creates a glowing hue but is also super good for your skin. It is known for it's antioxidant properties but also for brightening and illuminating skin. Vitamin C is epic at combatting hyperpigmentation and blemishes. Our Feel (Good) Skin B.E.C Serum contains Vitamin B5, Vitamin E and Vitamin C combines with Ferulic Acid in one powerful serum.
Tip #4 - Moisturize
Moisture, moisture, moisture! Dewy skin is not only about that glow girl! It's about hydration. A good night cream is essential to any routine but so is a day cream. It's about finding balance between the natural oils your skin creates to keep it protected from daily damage and using external hydrators. A light moisturizer to use during the day beneath your make up or on it's own will go a long way. Select a high factor SPF Day Cream to keep the hydration locked but also to protect yourself from the sun. It's bright outchea 😎
The QED Plant Stem Cell Anti-Ageing Day Cream with SPF is a brilliant hydrator and SPF.
Tip #5 - Serums.
Ok, so here's our top tip. We talk a lot about actives in skincare and that's for a really good reason. Science is giving us the key to healthy skin and aiding in gentle ageing.
A serum used in conjunction with a hydrating moisturizer is a perfect combination. One such serum is Hyaluronic Acid.
“Hyaluronic Acid holds a thousand times its own weight in moisture, so sealing it in with a moisturizer helps maximize and lock in the skin’s water intake.” Aesthetician Dija Ayodele as quoted in Vogue UK.
Apply Hyaluronic Acid to damp skin and then layer your moisturizer over the serum. Hyaluronic Acid is also known to plump skin reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The Feel (Good) Skin Face Serum contains Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Essential Oils, another powerful serum in the Feel (Good) Skin Range.
Stick to your routine.
One of the main factors in creating glowing skin is sticking to your routine and to be studious about your steps. Be sure to remove make up before sleeping and drink lots of water (water is our friend, not only is it lifeblood but plumps skin and keeps that healthy glow within reach.
